Before I start I feel it is important to to point out that I have never watched the other 5 movies in the Fast & Furious franchise, so the review is based solely on this movie. While there were some references that would have made a little more sense sooner had I watched the others first, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the film. So in my opinion it works well as a stand alone movie too.

Right, back to the review.

Dominic Toretto and his team are persuaded to join forces with Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agents Luke Hobbs and partner Riley Hicks to stop former British Special Forces soldier Owen Shaw and his crew from stealing components to create a deadly device, intending to sell it to the highest bidder. Hobbs shows Dom a photo of the supposedly long-dead Letty Ortiz, Dom’s former lover. Given Dom’s criminal background, he agrees to help in exchange for amnesty and the chance to return home to the United States.  Meanwhile, Shaw’s investigation into the opposing crew reveals Letty’s relationship with Dom, but she is revealed to be suffering from amnesia.

The main setting of Fast & Furious 6 is London and there is some stunning imagery of the city in this film. Whilst action and fast cars still feature heavily in fast & furious 6 there are not as many street-race scenes as you may expect. The cars are still amazing and one scene in particular made me think of what it would be like if Top Gear did Robot Wars.

Fast & Furious 6 has everything you’d expect from an action movie with fight scenes, car chases, amazing stunts, but it also has the added bonus of having many laugh out loud moments and a hint of romance in the storyline too. I like fast cars but my husband doesn’t particularly and he still really enjoyed watching this with me.
