If any film is deserving of the description of ‘WTF’ then this is it. ‘Kung Fury’ is set in the 1980’s and follows Kung Fury, a Miami detective who gained super kung-fu powers after being hit by lightning. Oh, and randomly being bitten by a cobra… Wanting to seek vengeance for his partner’s death, Kung Fury travels back in time to destroy the worst criminal of all time, Kung Führer Hitler. Featuring the Norse God Thor, giant wolves, robot eagles, a time travelling MicroBee computer and Triceracop the triceratops cop. There’s also a nice bootstrap paradox (in the words of Doctor Who, “Google it”).

The film never ceases to amaze with lots of throwbacks to the 80’s kung-fu movies, awesome action scenes and over the top special effects. The soundtrack is perfect for the film, the action is ridiculous and the deep, gravelly voice of Kung Fury is perfect for the role. The whole film is made to look like you’re watching an old VHS tape with the tracking and audio going out of sync every now and then.

Kung Fury was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and a full length feature film is also in the works. I for one can’t wait to see that… I think…

Like I said, if any film is deserving of the description of ‘WTF’ then this is it. It’s 31 minutes of glorious fun – check it out!
